The experiences of a firefighter can be life-changing, sad, exciting, exhausting, frightening and sometimes even funny.
The Lighter Side of Firefighting covers firefighting stories that are humorous and memorable. These accounts are based on real life occurrences. The book also includes great fire department jokes, and some gags that the guys have and still do play on each other. So what do you do when you see a fire man?.. Put it out, man!

This review is from: The Lighter Side of Firefighting (Paperback)
I was very disappointed in this book. It just isn't funny. The stories are just plain lame. I'm also a firefighter, and I was expecting something that would at least make me chuckle once an a while. This book is just a collection of somewhat normal events. Most of these events take the author less than a page to write. So just think of this as 150 two paragraph emails that somebody wrote. I would not recommend this book as a gift, as a firefighter would not find this enjoyable. The preview or "Search Inside" section isn't like the rest of the book. The introduction is the only story that takes more than a page and a half. I wish the author the best of luck, and I would consider other titles from him. In this book, he really missed the opportunity to take some events and make them into stories others would enjoy.
